ScientifiComposites while in the employment of Hamilton Sundstrand, developed the design of the world's first Ram Air Turbine (RAT) Blade manufactured from a Sheet Molding Compound (SMC). A Ram Air Turbine is part of the aircrafts emergency power system. The blades are employed on the Airbus A330/A340 aircraft.

The sheet Molding Compound (SMC) designated Lytex4149 (Quantum Composites)  a composite of One Inch Long Carbon Fibers in an epoxy resin.

The SMC blades were molded around a corrosion resistant titanium root fitting. Each blade was plated with a nickel/copper coating for lightning protection and rain erosion prevention.
